Sun Tzu Talent Tree Builds

You can build a Sun Tzu talent tree for Field PVP battles or a garrison in ROK. If you will not use him for defending then there is no point in building Sun Tzu for a garrison. I would go with more useful PVP build especially if you are fighting a lot. Use some other commander for the garrison.

Sun Tzu Field Talent Tree Build

Rise Of Kingdoms Guides Sun Tzu Field Talent Tree Build

Sun Tzu talent tree build for field battles is great because it will provide you a great amount of stats especially health that is good against swarming.

This build will give you great rage generation which is required so Sun Tzu can use skills more often.

Sun Tzu specializes in increasing the effectiveness of the Infantry. For example, Sun Tzu’s passive skill called Master Strategist increases infantry unit health by 10%.

So, in synergy with this passive skill, the infantry-focused talent build will increase the impact of this skill. This talent build will also give other buffs to Sun Tzu, which will increase infantry effectiveness.

Sun Tzu Garrison Talent Tree Build

Rise Of Kingdoms Guides Sun Tzu Garrison Talent Tree Build

Garrison talent tree build is great if you are a new player. It will give you a nice city defense boost and rage generation. But later you will use some other commander which is better than Sun Tzu for defending the city

Typically, a garrison alliance is excellent for defending a flag. Sun Tzu, the garrison commander, uses this talent tree, making him great at defending a city. This build makes Sun Tzu exceptional if you can bring a full Infantry.

Sun Tzu Guide

Sun Tzu is by far the best epic commander in Rise of Kingdoms and he will stay like that for a long time. Sun Tzu is a rage generating machine. His main skill Art of War can hit 5 targets at the same time.

For every unit that he hits with art of war, he will receive 50 rage points. With the right rok talent tree, he will generate so much rage in a short period of time.

Not only that he will receive bonus rage, but his fourth skill will also increase active damage by 20%.One more bonus is that he will increase active damage to his pair.

It does not matter if Sun Tzu is primary or secondary he will still increase the damage of his pair. When you add his first and fourth skill you will have a machine that will do an insane amount of damage.

Sun Tzu is a tank commander also, his third skill that will increase health and reduce the damage that you will receive and he is an infantry commander.

He is a great commander for an anti swarm of city and other buildings.

Sun Tzu’s character in Rise of Kingdoms is inspired by Sun Tzu, who’s popularly known for his book ‘Art of War.’ Sun Tzu is an old Chinese military figure.

He was known for his military strategies, leadership, philosophies, writings and lived in the Eastern Zhou period of Ancient China.

In Rise of The Kingdoms, Sun Tzu is one of the best epics. Consider any form of activity in the game from defending your garrison, battling in the field, rallying an army, and beyond – Sun Tzu has the potential to do it all.

So, what makes Sun Tzu special?

First, Sun Tzu’s primary skill is an area of effect damage. If your goal is to have an effective commander in the open fields, Sun Tzu is the one you should go for.

Second, Sun Tzu has skills and talents that give him rage regeneration, which is good for this commander and those who are paired with him.

Third, Sun Tzu has a passive that causes damage reduction, also making him tanky in battles. Four, Sun Tzu’s presence does not target a single type of troop. All his skills benefit troops of all kinds, making him a great commander for defending a whole city.

Where you can use Sun Tzu?

Because of his good skills, you can use him almost everywhere all the time. You can defend building and city, for big field fighting he is insanely good. The only problem is that he is not so great for rallying the city and building because he needs 5 targets to get maximum damage and rage production.

You can use Sun Tzu for farming barbarians. Learn how to pull more than one barbarian at the same time so you spend fewer action points. For this, you will need some practice but it’s not hard to learn.

How to use properly Sun Tzu in Rise of Kingdoms?

Every day people are getting better in fighting and they know how strong Sun Tzu can be. So you will get focused a lot.

You want to send Sun Tzu as the last commander and try to guard him so he can do his magic. The worst thing that you can do is to go 1vs1.

Try to avoid that. For defending the building avoid using Sun Tzu if there is a rally, but if a building is attacked by 3 or more sets of troops then definitely use Sun Tzu. Sun Tzu needs rage and hitting 1 target will not provide you with a nice rage generation.

Skill Unlock Order

In Rise of Kingdoms, when you start up a commander, it unlocks a new skill into which you can invest your sculptures.

The best option is to maximize Sun Tzu’s primary skill – Art of War. Art of War is a high damage area of effect skill, making the commander effective in battle. It also gives Sun Tzu an additional 50 rage for every new target.

Once your first skill is maximized, you should move on to the third skill, ‘Master Strategist,’ or the fourth skill, ‘Ever-changing Tactics.’ Both the skills are passives and create effects like damage reduction and increasing infantry troop health. If Sun Tzu is a garrison commander, you can move on to the second skill, ‘Philosophy of War.’

Now the question arises, how should you unlock Sun Tzu?

Let’s look into it in our next section.

How To Unlock Sun Tzu?

Sun Tzu is your starting commander if you choose China as your civilization. You can also unlock him from the tavern using your silver or gold keys.

If you choose China as your civilization, you will be getting more sculptures of him by completing the quests in the game. There are plenty of universals that you can apply to Sun Tzu.

It is not recommended to switch your civilization to China later in the game with the expectation that you’ll gain more of his sculptures because it doesn’t work that way in the game.

Sun Tzu Pairings

There are many Rise of Kingdoms pairings with Sun Tzu. Since the commander revolves around Infantry as a troop type, you can pair him with almost any commander if you pair him as a secondary commander.

If you plan to use Sun Tzu as a primary commander, he should either be a part of the garrison, or the talent build should be designed so that it doesn’t matter which troop type he belongs to. Also, a wise way to use him as a primary commander is to play him with full Infantry.

Let’s look at the top three pairings with Sun Tzu.

Charles Martel Charles Martel

Charles Martel is a Great commander’s pair for Sun Tzu. He provides a good amount of tank stats and skills. You will not do an insane amount of damage instantly but you will be able to survive more. Great if you are getting focused a lot in the field fighting. If you need more survivability use Charles Martel talent tree.

Guan-Yu Guan Yu

Guan Yu is a great commander for Sun Tzu but the problem is that a lot of people do not have him. They have great skill synergy so you can not go wrong with this pair. You must use Sun Tzu as a secondary commander in this pair because of Guan Yu talent tree and primary skill.

Scipio Scipio

Well, Scipio and Sun Tzu is not a bad option for free to play players. Scipio will provide some healing and increased army capacity. With more army capacity your damage will be higher.

Yi Seong-Gye Yi Seong-Gye

Yi Seong-Gye and Sun Tzu are also great pairing is Rise of Kingdoms. Two best AOE damage commanders in the Rise Of Kingdoms . You will be able to do so much damage in big fights. The only problem with this duo is that it can die so fast. So you must be careful during field fighting.

Mundeok Eluji Mundeok

Eluji Mundeok is a great pairing with Sun Tzu since they both come from the Infantry background, and in this pairing, it doesn’t matter who is the primary or the secondary pairing. Eluji Mundeok has talent tree that is focused on Infantry, garrison, and attack, which combine well with the skills of Sun Tzu. Making them a deadly combination in battles and defense.

Boudica Boudica

Boudica, with her integrations and peacekeeping abilities, forms an exceptional pair with Sun Tzu. However, Sun Tzu must be the primary commander because his’ area of effect’ skill increases the chances of killing barbarians more effectively. Boudica has an effective first skill which causes massive target damage of 1,000, making it a great combination with Sun Tzu’s active and passive skills. If you are planning to destroy barbarians you must use the Boudica talent tree so you can get action points reduction.

Joan-of-Arc Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc is a classic support, gathering, and integration commander which compliments Sun Tzu’s abilities like butter. She can impart a great number of buffs to troops and allies. For the next two seconds, her first skill, ‘Divine Revelation,’ grants the troops and allied forces a buff, increasing infantry unit health and cavalry unit defense. It also grants additional rage per second and increased archer unit attacks.

It doesn’t matter who is primary or secondary, but Sun Tzu is recommended if you’re looking to battle in the open fields. Enemies will tend to focus on Joan of Arc more so than a Sun Tzu.

Sun Tzu: Skills

Active Skill

Art of War

It is an active skill that requires a cast range of 1,000. The skill deals damage of 450 to three targets. The skill is cast within the area that is fan-shaped. Later, the targets receive an extra 150 damage. In return, Sun Tzu gets an additional 50 rage for every target hit. The more targets you hit, the better the skill gets.

Passive Skills

  • Philosophy of War: is a passive skill that reduces 7% of incoming damage from the garrison if Sun Tzu serves as a garrison commander. 7% damage reduction is a powerful effect in the game.
  • Master Strategist: This is a passive skill that reduces the damage caused by troops for up to 10%, while it also boosts the infantry unit’s health by around 10%.
  • Ever-changing Tactics: This is a unique passive skill in the game that Sun Tzu has. The skill enhances active skill damage by about 20%.

Expertise Skill

Book of Aeons

Book of Aeons is an enhanced version of ‘Art of War.’ It is an active skill that requires a cast range of 1,000. The skill deals with a damage factor of 800 to five targets. The skill is cast within an area that is fan-shaped. Every consecutive turn increases the damage factor by 200, and Sun Tzu receives 50 rage on every target. So, the greater the number of targets, the better it is.

Final Words

Sun Tzu also pairs well with commanders like – first Scipio Africanus, who provides a great deal of tankiness in the background. Other commanders like Kusunoki Masashige and Hermann also synergize well with Sun Tzu. Osman I is also a phenomenal pair if you intend to impart damage.

Overall, Sun Tzu is a well-rounded commander with insane skills and talents. Pairing him properly with the right commander and choosing an adequate talent build will take you a long way with Sun Tzu.

You’re all set. Go out there and thrive!
