Belisarius and Lancelot pair is only if you do not have Cao Cao for gathering runes and for the fast occupation of objectives.

For killing barbarians and other neutral units, Belisarius pairs well with most commanders. Some of the best pairings for Belisarius for battle with barbarians are Cao Cao, Boudica, Minamato, Lohar, and Joan of Arc.
